Adventurers School

The Adventurers School is an alternate, independent school planned for September 2009. It uses outdoor education to engage active students in the learning process. With an onus on meaningful hands-on experiences, much of the “teaching” will take place outside the classroom, whether it be a study of measurement in the schoolyard or learning about local ecosystems while taking a hike through the forest.

Its program covers the mandated Ministry of Education prescribed learning outcomes but goes above and beyond in terms of providing a challenging curriculum that is tailored to the needs of each student. Small class sizes guarantee quality time with the classroom teachers as well as opportunities to develop deep and lasting friendships.

Next Wilderness Survival Challenge Course

The previous course was a great success and we welcome those who participated and those who haven't yet to learn many important aspects of surviving in the wilderness.

What: Introduce your child to wilderness survival skills including map making, map and compass reading, orienteering, using the sun to tell time, building shelters and fires and much more.
When: Saturday, May 23rd
Time: 10:30 to 4:30
Where: Lighthouse Christian Academy, 1289 Parkdale Drive
Cost: $125. Sibling rates are available

Tuesday, August 11th & Thursday, August 13th, 9:00 to 4:00
